Legendary Coach Bob Knight Passes Away
R.I.P. Coach Knight
Seven years ago Coach Knight and I were discussing the possibility of him becoming a head coach in Australia. I had become the top agent in Australia and my connections within the NBL were very strong. So, I called one of my friends Vince Crivelli, who had just moved up to President of Operations in the NBL and the General Manager for the Melbourne United.
We discussed that Coach Knight had an interest in coming to Australia as a head coach and Vince said "fly out here and let's get this deal done".
Vince and I knew it was going to be like Michael Jordan or the Beatles coming to Australia and ESPN would be living outside the stadium. We worked out a contract for coach Knight and he was agreeable to the conditions.
However, something was holding him back in the end, and little did we know at that time it was something that would take his life seven years later. Coach Knight helped a lot of us throughout our careers and I was fortunate to be able to pay him back and represent him at the end of his.
